Q.  DOES A METAL ROOF COST MORE THAN A COMP., WOOD, TILE OR SLATE ROOF?

A.   Because standing seam metal roofing is designed to last as long as a structures' integrity, you can expect it to initially cost more than any composition roofing. Lap panel roofs are slightly higher than composition roofing but are more resistant to hail & wind. For more on Pricing check the section of this page containing "Are all metal roofs the same?"

However, TESCo. SL1000 Steel Roofs are comparable in price to cedar shake and tile roofs, but will outlast all of the above.

Quality standing seam roofing will add to the RESALE OF YOUR HOME, save on ENERGY bills and on INSURANCE.

The peace of mind that you will never have to re-roof again is PRICELESS.

Q. WILL A METAL ROOF MATCH THE STYLE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD?

A.
TESCo. Metal Roofing comes in a variety of lifetime colors from which to choose.

Fact:
Many neighborhoods and municipalities are BANNING WOOD AND COMP. roofing.  In exclusive restricted communities, standing seam steel is encouraged and widely accepted.

Q. WILL I GET AN INSURANCE DISCOUNT?

A.  Yes, if it is a TESCo. SL 1000 UL 2218 Class 4 Certified and your insurance carrier is regulated by the Texas Dept. of Insurance. State Farm is currently sending brochures to its customers about impact resistant roofing showing a 27% to 47% discount. Fact:  Not only will you get an insurance discount, but you will have a home that is insurance desirable with a class 4 metal roof.

Fact:  Insurance deductibles are rising dramatically every year.  $1,000.00 to $5,000.00 deductibles are common.  If you never have to re-roof again, these deductibles will not be a problem and will significantly offset your investment in a standing seam roof.

Q. WILL HAIL DAMAGE METAL ROOFING?

A.  TESCo. SL 1000 24 gauge steel roofing is class IV rated & 33% heavier than almost all residential metal roofing existing today and widely used commercially.  In the metroplex of DFW numerous similar roofs exist that are 75 years old or more and still in good condition.  Hail is not a problem.

Q. HOW WILL A METAL ROOF STAND UP TO EXTREME WEATHER?

A.  Quality metal roofing properly installed will withstand many decades of abuse from extreme weather, high winds, heavy snow, hailstorms and wildfires.  Standing seam metal roofing has MPH wind ratings in excess of 150 miles per hour - equal to an F2 tornado.  Architects say that standing seam metal roofing systems have wind resistance that is above the new building code requirements.  The fire protection is significant and highly underrated in many areas.

Q. ARE ALL METAL ROOFS THE SAME?

A.  Definitely no. Metal Roofing Systems vary widely in price & application. Texas Energy Savers Co. has been manufacturing and installing metal roofs continuously for the past 15 years. Price ranges are available for every budget. We do mobile homes to mansions. Professionally installed metal roofs starting at $1.75/sq. ft & range to $15/sq.ft and almost every increment in between. TESCo offers class IV UL 2218 and UL 90 metal roofs. 24 gauge standing seam steel roofing systems are ENGINEERED AND DESIGNED TO COMPENSATE FOR EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION AND CAN BE APPLIED TO WOOD DECKING or over existing comp. roofs w/decking.
Fact:

Q.  IS METAL ROOFING NOISIER IN BAD WEATHER THAN ASPHALT, CEDAR SHAKE, TILE OR SLATE?

A.  When installed with solid sheathing or over existing composition, metal roofing will silence noise from rain, hail and bad weather as well if not better than any other roofing material.

Q.  HOW IS METAL ROOFING ENERGY EFFICIENT?

A.  Metal dissipates heat rapidly unlike asphalt which retains heat much longer.  Roofing tests on Galvalume have shown it to be one of the most reflective materials in use today for roofing.  Optional insulation underlayments add extraordinary insulation to metal roofing systems.

Q.  IS A METAL ROOF ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY?

A.  Not only is metal roofing great for your home, but great for the environment.  "The recycled content of the steel in a metal roof is about 56% from production to installation."

According to the National Association of Homebuilders Research Center, 20 billion pounds of asphalt shingle are dumped into the U.S. landfills every year.  If these shingles were in tractor trailers, then parked end to end, they would make a line from New York City to Los Angeles, back to New York City again and then on to Chicago.  What a waste to the environment!  BECAUSE A METAL ROOF CAN OFTEN BE INSTALLED OVER YOUR CURRENT ROOF WITHOUT A TEAR-OFF, THE ENVIRONMENT IS SAVED AND YOU ARE SAVED THE COST AND MESS ASSOCIATED WITH TEARING OFF A DAMAGED OR WORN OUT ROOF.

As the landfills continue to fill up and reach capacity or close, the price associated with wasteful roofing tear offs soon will be greater than the cost of new materials and installation.  Currently, tear offs equal to at least 50% of the costs of a re-roofing job.

Q.  WOULD A METAL ROOF BE TOO HEAVY FOR HOMES?

ANo.  Surprisingly, metal although much stronger and durable than

most roofing material, is normally 50% lighter and is never an issue for re-roofing.
